Overview

History

Built in 1913 as Consolidation Coal Company Office Building. It's a 4 story structure that housed at that time, the post office, Doctor, Barber, City Offices, Jail, Engineers for the 5 mines, Bank, Cobbler Shop, Masonic Lodge. And then a variety of different other things over the years. It is now the home of the Van Lear Historical Society and Coal Miners' Museum.

Paranormal Claims

Claims have been made over the years of seeing a little boy and girl along with adults. Hearing someone calling your name and no one there, all kinds of evp's and a few videos. Picture of a girl, coal miner and a man (separate photos) along with several other photos, draining battery's, things moving, pictures taken down without glass breakage, hearing walking....etc, etc.
